About Our Libraries
Welcome to the Albizu University libraries: the Dr. Carlos Albizu-Miranda Library (San Juan Campus), which honors the memory of the university’s founder and first president, Dr. Carlos Albizu-Miranda; the Albizu Library (Miami Campus); and the Mayagüez University Center Library (Mayagüez University Center). As a student at our university, you will find your campus library to be a welcoming place, staffed by experts who are committed to helping you achieve your academic goals.
Our libraries embody and provide access to a wide range of research, learning, and teaching tools and resources to serve the needs of their users.
They are designed to provide dynamic learning centers on each campus, with holdings that are closely aligned with the academic offerings of the university.
The general collections in Miami, San Juan, and Mayagüez include books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, atlases, print newspapers, audiovisual materials and equipment, psychological tests, and online databases. The libraries are valued for their strong, specialized collections in the fields of clinical psychology, speech and language pathology, forensic psychology, neuropsychology, cross-cultural psychology, family therapy, counseling, mental health, industrial and organizational psychology, and general psychology. In addition, the San Juan library features an extensive collection of speech and language resources. On the other hand, the Miami library has a large core collection of resources in education, social sciences, and general sciences to support the academic curricula.
Each location provides high-speed wireless internet access, interlibrary loans, and fluorescent light covers for easy reading, among other services. Our libraries are members of the Online Computer Library Center, a global cooperative that provides shared technology services, original research, and community programs for its membership and the library community at large. We also offer remote access through the Consorcio de Bibliotecas Metropolitanas (COBIMET) to databases containing thousands of electronic periodicals and books. At Miami Campus, these resources can be accessed through SunPortal, while students and faculty members in Puerto Rico may access the virtual library by using their institutional credentials (username and password). If you have any questions concerning access to these resources, please contact the library in your location.
We invite you to visit the library at your location and experience its contents firsthand. You will find us on the first floor at San Juan Campus, in Room 310 on the Miami Campus, and on the first floor of the Mayagüez University Center.
