Greetings to you…The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, is listening to you. We are dedicated to supporting the academic and personal development of all students. Yes, this includes online Program students and in-person Program students, and whether you are enrolled in online, hybrid or in-person courses. As Dean, I am intent on assisting you in developing, planning and implementing your short and long-term goals, into becoming accomplished, global citizens.

At Albizu University, student engagement is paramount. Supportive Community: A Place for Everyone

Our department offers a safe and open environment for all students. We offer resources for academic support and enrichment as well as career services.

Academic support services are located at the Student Success Center on the second floor of the Miami Campus building and virtually. Our tutors are trained to help strengthen student academic skills and competencies through tutoring and coaching activities. Our services promote academic achievement, assist students in developing additional study strategies, enrich student life, and support our students in their professional endeavors.

Through the Student Success Center, Albizu University students can strengthen their skills or competencies in the following areas:

  • Mathematics and sciences
  • Academic writing, grammar, APA style, MS Office
  • Test development
  • Research methodology
  • Statistics
  • SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences)
  • English language support for ESOL students
  • Oral exam preparation
  • Presentation skills

Academic support services are available for all Albizu University students. To access these services, please click on the appropriate link below, visit the Student Success Center, email [email protected] or [email protected]. We offer individual and group sessions.

The Career Services Center at Albizu University’s Miami Campus assists students in developing and exploring their career options to empower them with the necessary skills to successfully enter the job market in their chosen fields. Career Services are located at the Student Success Center on the second floor of the Miami Campus building.

From the day they enroll at Albizu University until their day of graduation, students will have access to  individualized career counseling as well as to regularly updated job postings. Moreover, Miami Campus students have access to ongoing career workshop services provided monthly.

We assist students with developing effective job searches and the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen careers. Our team assists with resume and curriculum vitae preparation, how to write cover letters, mock interview practice sessions, and workshops on developing soft skills. We also post job opportunities, advise on possible career paths, and we assist students in preparing to enter the workforce.

In addition, students have access to a variety of resources through our online portal, including:

  • Job search techniques
  • Assistance with job applications
  • Networking opportunities
  • Interview techniques
  • Common errors to avoid in an interview
  • Office etiquette
  • Tips on career transition

Albizu University currently does not offer on-campus housing. However, we can provide access to local realtors who will assist students with identifying available housing in the area.

Americans with Disabilities Act (1990)

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a national mandate that protects the rights of individuals with disabilities or impairments. The law establishes that mental or physical disabilities do not limit a person’s rights to participate in any professional or academic area or in everyday society.

Section 504 of Rehabilitation Act (1973)

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 gives people with disabilities the same rights and opportunities as individuals without disabilities. This law establishes that all private and public entities who receive federal funds cannot discriminate against individuals with disabilities in any way that limits or excludes their participation in a program or activity.

ADA Amendments Act (2008)

Effective January 2009, these amendments consist of significant changes to the definition of disability in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. These amendments are included in the provisions established in the Albizu University Student Guide to Reasonable Accommodation.

This federal law states that a physical or mental impairment does not limit a person's right to participate in professional, academic, and personal areas in society. At Albizu University, we fully support students’ right to request reasonable accommodations.

Any student interested in requesting reasonable accommodations is welcome to contact the Office of Student Affairs, by email at [email protected] or by phone at 305-593-1223, ext. 3245. The office is located on the main floor of the Miami Campus building.

Once you complete the application process, we will work with you to determine your eligibility and identify the type of accommodation you will need. It is your choice whether to communicate your health information to faculty members or classmates. We will not disclose health issues or specific diagnoses.
