Transfer Students
Overview
Every year, Albizu University (AU) welcomes transfer students from other higher education institutions. We accept applications from students transferring from postsecondary institutions accredited by a regional or national accrediting association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
We recognize that the needs of transfer students may differ from those of first-year students and we will work with you to make the transition as seamless as possible. Our admissions counselors are available to assist you with the process. Please see the “How to Apply” section of this site for more information.
Instructions
Along with your application for admission, send your official academic transcripts from all the colleges or universities you have attended. High school students who completed Advanced Placement courses must also submit their College Board transcripts.
The faculty of your degree program will review your submitted application. The program director will also evaluate your transcript(s) and notify the Admissions Office about the credits accepted for the transfer.
Undergraduate students
Undergraduate students may transfer up to 60 credits from a two-year institution and up to 90 credits from a four-year institution.
Graduate students
If you are applying to an AU graduate program, you may request the transfer of courses that meet the following criteria:
- Completed at accredited colleges and universities.
- Completed with a grade of “A” or “B.”
- Completed within five (5) years before the date of application to the AU program.
- Classified as non-clinical courses.
- Approved by the academic program director up to the maximum allowable as listed in the Albizu University Academic Catalog.

Note: There is no time limit for the transfer of credits from completed programs with degrees granted at AU or other accredited institutions.
We encourage you to consider Albizu University as your next academic home and invite you to learn more about our faculty and academic programs.
High school students
High school students who have completed advanced placement courses must submit their College Board test transcripts with their application to the Admissions Office.
Master's students
To be eligible for credit transfer to a graduate program, courses must have been completed at an accredited institution where the student has obtained a 3.0 or 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The qualification for these courses must be “A” or “B,” depending on the requirements established by the selection program. Graduate master’s students can transfer up to 12 credits from another institution.
Doctoral students
Those students with a master’s degree from another institution interested in applying for and being admitted to the Industrial / Organizational Psychology (PhD) Program can transfer up to 42 credits after the approval of the Program Director. The remaining amount (21 credits) must be equal in academic load (3 credits per course), according to those offered in Albizu University.
Applicants admitted to the doctoral programs in clinical psychology (PsyD and PhD) can transfer a maximum of 12 credits from an accredited academic institution. The program director will determine the amount of credits approved for transfer.
