Biography

Professor Alfredo Picanol is an Assistant Professor and a Faculty Advisor for the Undergraduate Psychology and Criminal Justice Program at Albizu University. He has been employed at Albizu University for more than eight years teaching courses in Psychology, Philosophy, and Criminal Justice. Professor Picanol is a licensed mental health counselor and has a master degree in Mental Health Counseling which he obtained at Albizu University in 2006. He has worked in the field as a counselor for several populations for more than seventeen years. Providing individual therapy to clients diagnosed with mental health disorders. Working for a duel diagnosis program where he facilitated group therapy, supported, monitored, and actively advocated on behalf of clients in order to sustain independent living. He worked for many years for the Department of Corrections where he was actively involved in daily crisis intervention for inmates with suicidal ideation. Professor Picanol has also provided individual and family therapy sessions for the community at his local church. Furthermore, Professor Picanol has been involved in designing courses at Albizu University by developing and converting courses fully online. He is also active in our community with the undergraduate and graduate students majoring in psychology as a Psi Chi primary faculty adviser recognizing and promoting excellent in the science and application of Psychology.
