Biography

Dr. Brooks has been teaching for 20 years and teaching online for 16 years. Melissa has worked in both for-profit and non-profit sectors. She has owned two businesses herself as an entrepreneur and has coached and mentored many students in that process. She has worked as a social worker, HR Director at an ICF, Behavioral Therapist, Marketing Director, Recruiter, and Staff Development Director. Academically, she has been conducting research and has published several papers. She has been an advisor, recruiter, Department Chair, Program Director, Adjunct Instructor, Visiting Professor, and Assistant Professor of Business. She was a Campus Director of a University on a Naval Base and worked on the base for 2 years assisting Active Duty, DOD, and Veterans for all branches of military service. She also has been recognized as a Kentucky Colonel for her work in Kentucky as a Dean of Online and Graduate Programs. Dr. Brooks was an HR Director at one non-profit facility, and HR Director, and Staff Development Director at a Roofing and Construction Company. Melissa worked as a Marketing Director for several organizations as well and is excellent with Customer Service. Melissa completed her Doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. She has 2 Masters in Human Resource Management and Public Administration. She also has dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Social Work and Sociology.

She spent several years teaching in various locations in Mainland China. After leaving China just before COVID 19 in December of 2020, Dr. Brooks took a position at an HBCU in South Carolina where she was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Business. She relocated to Hawaii, where she was teaching at various military installations including Schofield Barracks, Army, PHH: Pearl Harbor Joint Base: Navy and Airforce, and K-Bay: Kaneohe, Marine Corps. Dr. Brooks has recruited and worked with the U.S. Military on 10 bases.

She has taught Business, HR, Public Administration, Marketing, and General Education Courses at Undergraduate and Graduate Levels as well as being a Dissertation Chair at various Academic Institutions. In her career, she has had the opportunity to teach diverse populations of students Globally. In 2022, Dr. Brooks relocated to Florida and is in Fort Myers. Dr. Brooks is married to a CW03 In the Navy.
