Minor in ABA
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in ABA consists of six (6) courses (18 credits). Applicants who complete the ABA Minor along with the required coursework in the Bachelor of Science in Psychology curriculum meet the academic requirements to apply for the Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) examination. Applicants must also meet additional requirements before they can be deemed eligible to sit for the exam, including supervised fieldwork. Minor in Speech-Language Pathology
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Speech-Language Pathology consists of nine (9) courses (27 credits), and it is designed for students interested in pursuing a career as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. Students who complete the SLP Minor, along with the required coursework in the Bachelor of Science in Psychology curriculum, meet the academic requirements established by the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Graduates are prepared to apply for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in Florida, in accordance with the Florida Board’s application process. Completion of the minor also provides the foundational preparation needed to apply to graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology. Among the requirements for Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) certification in Florida, graduates must complete the application process established by the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology.
Choosing a minor is not required to earn the Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Program Goals
The objective of the Bachelor of Science in Psychology program at Albizu University’s (AU) is to provide students with a foundation in a variety of mental health fields and help them develop the necessary skills for entry into an array of graduate degree programs.
Our program integrates cognitive, emotional, and behavioral science theories with current trends in the field of psychology. This allows students to cultivate an appreciation for the value and dignity of all people, regardless of their backgrounds, origins, or life circumstances.

Admission Requirements
- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) or equivalent of 2.0 or higher to be considered for admission from a high school, high school equivalent, and/or accredited institution of higher education in the United States and its territories.
Documentation Requirements:
- A completed and signed application form accompanied by the appropriate fee, within the established deadline. (See the Tuition and Fees Policy.)
- Official transcripts from all high schools, colleges, universities, or other post-secondary educational institutions.
International students applying for admission must submit their academic records to the appropriate agencies for verification of their equivalency to coursework offered in the United States. They must demonstrate the ability to meet the cost of their educational needs without financial assistance from the University.
Albizu University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the Commission for Independent Education of the Florida Department of Education.
The BS in Psychology can be completed in a minimum of one (1) year, depending on the number of credits the student has transferred from other accredited institutions. If the student starts out without any transfer credits, the program can be completed within three (3) years. Students transferring from a two-year accredited institution may transfer up to 60 credits; those transferring from a four-year institution may transfer up to 90 credits.

Program Highlights
The faculty members of this program have vast experience in their respective fields. They are required to complete research-based projects, prepare presentations on academia for target audiences, as well as attend and/or present at academia-related conferences. They are also encouraged to join professional work-related organizations. Most psychology instructors hold doctoral degrees and practice psychology in diverse community settings such as private practice, children’s clinics, correctional facilities, private and public schools, etc.
This program is offered both online (in synchronous and asynchronous formats) and on campus, providing flexible options to meet students’ needs.
This bachelor’s degree takes up to three (4) years to complete.
Instructional methods include teacher-facilitated lectures, study groups, elements of scholarly research reading and writing, among others.
Potential Careers
Graduates from AU’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology program go on to seek gainful employment as social workers, case managers, human resource professionals, certified addiction professionals, behavioral technicians at hospitals, child life specialists, Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts, and entry-level positions in corrections and law enforcement.
Graduate who completes the Minor in Speech-Language Pathology acquire clinical skills and knowledge practice as a Speech-Language Pathology assistant may seek employment in various settings, including schools, hospitals, clinics, and private practice.
