Instructors may place any materials on reserve for their class to review. Reserved materials are kept at the Circulation Desk under the instructor’s name. Semester reserves cannot be checked out and can only be used on campus. To use the item, you will need to leave your student ID, or another form of picture ID, at the Circulation Desk.
The Albizu Library has 18 computer workstations with access to the Internet and Microsoft Office software. The computers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and signing in is not required.
There is no cost to print at the library. Your print jobs can be picked up at one of the two printers located at the Circulation Desk.
Three copy machines are located in a small left corner of the library when you walk in. Copies cost 10 cents per page, and the copy machines only accept cash. They are self-service machines, but if you need assistance with the equipment, please let the library staff know.
Renewing your library materials can be done online, by phone, or in person. To renew online: log into Sunportal.albizu.edu; select our Library Catalog on the right-hand side under the Application box; click on Access Patron Info; type in your Library ID number and last name and click on submit; follow the instructions that appear on the screen. You can also use the Text the Librarian service to renew online. Our phone number is 305-593-1223, ext. 3131. You can also renew in person at the Circulation Desk.
Our library may not have everything you need, but if we don’t have it, we will try to get it for you. Interlibrary Loans (ILL) are items borrowed from other libraries. We are members of OCLC WorldShare, which we use to borrow material from other libraries nationally and internationally, and we can request photocopies or books. This service is free of charge. Each item will need some time to arrive at our library, so make sure to request your ILL in advance. Requests are made either in person at the Circulation Desk or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Albizu Library provides reference and research assistance to AU students, faculty, and staff. Through our library instruction program, librarians teach students how to use and access all of our resources. Our Library is a member of the SEFLIN Library Card Program, which is a reciprocal borrowing program available to academic member institutions of SEFLIN (Southeast Florida Library Information Network). The purpose of the card is to give access to materials or services not available at one’s home campus library.
