Dr. Santana is a full-time faculty member in the Albizu University Miami Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD), teaching core courses in Biological Basis of Behavior and History and Systems of Psychology. He is also the coordinator of the Neuropsychology Concentration and teaches elective courses in Functional Neuroanatomy and Neuropsychological Syndromes.

Dr. Santana developed the Neurolearning specialization within the PhD in Human Services program at Albizu University's Miami campus. Dr. Santana is a former full professor in the Master in Neuropsychology at the Autonomous University of Morelos State in Mexico. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at several universities around the world such as the University of Massachusetts where he taught postgraduate courses on neuropsychology, Ponce School of Medicine, in Puerto Rico, Nacional Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Benemérita Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico, University “Rovira i Virgili” in Tarragona, Spain, University Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Lima, Peru, Autonomous University of Bucaramanga (UNAB), Bucaramanga, Colombia, Iberoamerican University in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic among others.
Besides that, Dr. Santana is a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida. He is a certified rational hypnotherapist and an international lecturer on topics such as neurodevelopmental disorders, the neuropsychology of epilepsy, gerontology, and other related fields. He has participated in many national and international conferences and conventions. Dr. Santana also worked for the Miami-Dade County Public School System, performing evaluations for students with traumatic brain injuries.

Biografía

Dr. Santana is a former Adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts where he taught postgraduate courses on neuropsychology. He was a full professor In the Master in Neuropsychology at the Autonomous University of Morelos State in Mexico. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at several universities around the world such as Ponce School of Medicine, in Puerto Rico, Nacional Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Benemerita Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico, University “Rovira i Virgili” in Tarragona, Spain, University Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Lima, Peru, Autonomous University of Bucaramanga (UNAB), Bucaramanga, Colombia, Iberoamerican University in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic among others.

Besides that, Dr. Santana has been an international lecturer on topics such as neurodevelopmental disorders, neuropsychology of epilepsy, gerontology, and others.

Dr. Santana worked for the Miami Dade County Public School System performing evaluations for students with traumatic brain injuries.

Investigación / Intereses de investigación

Dr. Santana research interests center around the study of neuropsychological aspects of epilepsy, gerontology, learning disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Santana has developed two neuropsychological tests (The Neuropsychological Laterality Test and The Test of Neuropsychological Potential)

Académicos, Educación, Certificaciones

Dr. Santana completed his undergraduate studies with a concentration in Clinical Psychology at the University of Havana, Cuba, in 1981. He received his Ph.D. in Neuropsychology in the department founded by the renowned professor Alexander Luria at Moscow State University “M.B. Lomonosov” in 1991.

Dr. Santana completed the “Multicultural Psychology Internship Program of Massachusetts” in School Street Counseling Institute in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1999. He is a Quality Matter Peer Reviewer.

Dr. Santana took an advanced training course on Neuropsychology in Epilepsy in Bordeaux, France in 2022 and successfully completed the i4 Neuroleader certification, offered by the About My Brain Institute, Australia.
