As a full-time Faculty member, Dr. Tourgeman co-coordinates the Albizu University neuropsychology track and also serves as adjunct professor for the school’s Master’s in Speech Pathology Program. Additional classes taught by Dr. Tourgeman include: Assessment of Intelligence, Advanced Neuropsychology, Fundamentals of Neuropsychology and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation and Treatment. He also serves as Faculty Advisor for the Neuropsychology Club.
Biografía
Dr. Tourgeman is a full-time faculty member who co-coordinates the Albizu University Neuropsychology Track and teaches across the doctoral curriculum and has also served as an adjunct professor in the University’s Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology program. A bilingual clinical neuropsychologist, he practices across inpatient rehabilitation and community medical settings in South Florida, including acute and post-acute hospitals and community clinics ranging from primary care to neurology outpatient centers, where he leads and consults on interdisciplinary teams serving patients with acquired brain injury, complex medical illness, and neurorehabilitation needs. His regular courses include Assessment of Intelligence, Objective Assessment I and II, Psychopharmacology, Neuropsychological Assessment, Neuroanatomy, and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation & Treatment. He advises doctoral research, supervises practicum trainees, and serves as Faculty Advisor for the Neuropsychology Club. Clinically, his orientation is theoretical integrationist, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Solution-Focused interventions, Reality Therapy, and systems approaches alongside a medical/biological model of care; he incorporates American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) guidelines for neurorehabilitation and emphasizes culturally responsive, team-based treatment planning.
Investigación / Intereses de investigación
Dr. Tourgeman has presented at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, and the American Psychological Association. His research centers on the neuropsychology of acquired brain injury (including concussion), rehabilitation outcomes, and the interface of technology and health (mobile devices, wearables, and portable EEG). He collaborates with MIT’s Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES) as a research collaborator and mentor in the IDEA² program, advising teams on translational strategy for neurotechnology and digital biomarker development. Ongoing projects include service as Principal Investigator on a multicenter study examining relationships between passive digital signals and objective emotional/behavioral indices, and on a study of premorbid and co-morbid factors that influence neuropsychological status after acquired brain injury. He has also served as co-investigator on a multi-site group cognitive rehabilitation program for individuals with MCI and dementia, and as a certified clinical rater and sub-investigator in pharmaceutical trials.

Dr. Tourgeman is Board Certified in Medical Psychology (ABMP), a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) through the Brain Injury Association of America, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Dr. Tourgeman earned a B.S. in Psychology (minors in Philosophy and Statistics) from Florida International University in 2006; an M.S. in Clinical Psychopharmacology in 2014; and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 2015. He completed clinical internship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital (Adult Neuropsychology) and a post-doctoral fellowship at Desing Neuroscience Center, an interdisciplinary neuro-rehabilitation center in South Florida. Dr. Tourgeman currently maintains active hospital affiliations and ongoing advanced training in neuropsychology, rehabilitation and medical psychology.
