President José Pons Madera, Ph.D.

Welcome to Albizu University’s website! Here you will find information on all the activities of our university, including the programs that we offer, our student services, and our institutional and program accreditations and outcomes. The website’s sections on About Us, Admissions, Financial Aid, International Students, Student Services, Clinics, and Libraries include information about the San Juan Campus, the University Center in Mayagüez, and the Miami Campus. The links provided in the Academic Programs section will give you access information on the specific programs we offer in each of these locations. We also include labor market projections for the professions you can pursue in our campuses. Moreover, the website is available 24/7 to answer your questions and offer you guidance and advice on any aspect of Albizu University, from admission procedures to the graduation requirements of each program that we offer.

Albizu University is a pioneer in offering master’s programs in clinical psychology and industrial/organizational psychology in Puerto Rico. It was also the first to offer Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in these disciplines and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology. From its starting point in behavioral sciences, the university expanded its program offerings to health sciences when it established bachelor’s and master’s programs in speech and language therapy and pathology in all its campuses, including the Mayagüez University Center. Speech and language therapy and pathology are now among the top professional programs that we offer in Puerto Rico and Florida. The San Juan Campus offers interdisciplinary bachelor’s degrees that allow students to pursue a concentration either in speech and language therapy or psychology. The Miami Campus offers bachelor’s degrees in education, criminal justice, and psychology, as well as a doctoral degree in human services.

Since professional psychology was its founding pillar, Albizu University has further expanded the master’s level study of psychology to include specializations in mental health counseling, school counseling, and marriage and family therapy.

Even with all the information available on our website, it is impossible to show how much we appreciate your interest in our university. It is also difficult to show online the close relationship and cooperation that exists among students, faculty, and staff members. All the activities carried out at Albizu University are aimed at promoting and facilitating the academic performance of each student and the processes that support its curricular and extracurricular activities. Albizu University is a student-centered institution of higher education.

To better understand these intangible dimensions, we invite you to come and visit us and meet with our team of admissions advisors. We invite you to see and feel the student environment conducive to learning that you will find at our campuses in Miami and San Juan and at the University Center in Mayagüez.
