I hope our website will give you a sense of what Albizu stands for and how committed we are to help you achieve your educational goals. Here, you can start pursuing your bachelor’s degree, followed by earning your doctoral degree. We offer a unique educational model, grounded in a practical approach that allows you to apply what you learn immediately. You will work with accomplished faculty members who continue to practice in their fields, enabling them to bring real-world experience to the classroom. At Albizu, faculty and staff make a point of getting to know you and your particular interests and needs. Everyone is accessible to you, from the admissions counselors and financial aid experts to the academic program directors and deans. They are here to help you earn your degree.

Dr. Tilokie Depoo is the chancellor of Albizu University’s Miami Campus. He has over twenty years of corporate experience and over eighteen years of experience in higher education both in teaching as well as administration. Prior to joining Albizu University, he was chief academic officer and dean at the Metropolitan College of New York School for Business. He holds the faculty rank of Professor of Management. As a teacher and academic administrator, Dr. Depoo has focused on developing curricula that align with real-world practices to better prepare students for successful careers. His teaching experience includes both online and on-site courses, and he has pioneered numerous innovative, career-focused programs for students.
Prior to his full-time move to academia, Dr. Depoo worked in strategic planning, venture development, financial analysis, market research, business development, and product development for international and domestic companies. In his most recent corporate position, he served as director of strategic planning at Fidelis Care, which provides quality, affordable health coverage to children and adults throughout New York State. In addition, he has served as a management advisor for the United Nations Development Programme.
Complementing his management and administrative accomplishments, Dr. Depoo maintains research interests in the area of international labor migration and the brain drain in Third World countries. He has co-authored two books: A Practical Guide to Microeconomics (2007) and The East Indian Diaspora (1993). Additionally, he has published several articles on the brain drain, including “Guyana’s Brain Drain and Implications for Economics Development” (2007). His most recent publication was “The Ethical Dilemma of Sustainable Development: Guyana,” coauthored by David Rosner and published in the Journal of Global Responsibility (2011).
He serves on the board of trustees for several organizations, including the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, where he chairs the Risk Management Committee.
