October 15, 2013 (Miami, FL) -- Carlos Albizu University officially inaugurated its new state of the art Title V Undergraduate Wing and unveiled a new sculpture of the internationally recognized sculptor Rafael Consuegra, at the Miami campus: 2173 NW 99th Avenue.
The inauguration of the new $2.8 million wing was simultaneously with the University’s 33rd annual commencement exercises with 340 graduates that crossed the stage this year, receiving doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees in psychology, business, and/or education.
The new sculpture is gifted to Carlos Albizu University by renowned Cuban sculptor Rafael Consuegra, a professional artist born in Cuba and specialized in metal and ceramic sculpture and twice granted the Cintas Fellowship from the International Institute of Education in New York.
Consuegra’s work is represented in both private and public collections internationally like Mexico, Venezuela, Serbia, Spain, France and Puerto Rico, among others. Consuegra, who chose the two pieces – one for the Miami campus and one for the San Juan, Puerto Rico, campus – said: “All of my sculptures are inspired by movement and balance, as this university that brings movement to the City of Doral.”
