Stress Management (2CEs)

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

- Better identify the potential stressors in their lives and that of their patients

- Understand the stress response and the counter-balancing mechanism, the relaxation response

- Learn various stress reduction techniques to incorporate into daily life

 

Rosemarie A. Rodriguez, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Neuropsychology Concentration at CAU.  Dr. Rodriguez earned an MS in Clinical Psychology from Barry University and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Miami, where she was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurology, Division of Neuropsychology, at the Miller School of Medicine.  She also trained at Jackson Memorial Medical Center where she specialized in Behavioral Medicine and Rehabilitation Psychology.  Prior to joining CAU, Dr. Rodriguez provided psychological consultation, assessment, and intervention at South Miami Hospital, Baptist Health South Florida, where she also taught the cardiac rehabilitation stress management class. 

 

The Nature of Intelligence (3 CEs)

Following this presentation, participants should be able to:

- The major theories of intelligence and which theories are considered the most utilized 

- How the most current assessment instruments reflect theory and current research

- What are the major variables or factors which influence intelligence

 

Christine Nogues, PsyD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at CAU and coordinator of the Neuropsychology Concentration.  She obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology.  She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at Sheltering Arms Rehabilitation Hospital in Richmond, VA. Dr. Nogues has worked in a variety of clinical settings and is currently a neuropsychology consultant at South Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.  She has extensive experience conducting a wide variety of assessments and currently teaches Assessment of Intelligence, Rorschach, and Neuropsychological Assessment courses at CAU.

 

Ethics (3 CEs)

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

- Review APA’s ethical principles, legal standards, and code of conduct for practicing psychologists

- Learn a framework to guide psychologist’s ethical decision-making when faced with ethical dilemmas

- Increase self-awareness regarding ethical dilemmas in the practice of psychology

 

Marilyn Cugnetto, PhD is an Assistant Professor in CAU’s Doctoral Program, Health Psychology concentration, and serves as the Institutional Review Board’s Administrator for CAU’s Miami campus. She is a licensed psychologist specializing in the area of obsessive compulsive and related disorders, anxiety disorders, and behavioral medicine/health psychology.  Dr. Cugnetto received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology from the University of Miami. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Miami Veterans Administration Healthcare System and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.  Throughout her graduate training and specifically during her internship and fellowship years, Dr. Cugnetto received a specialization in Behavioral Medicine. She has conducted research in the area of obesity and metabolic syndrome.
