The review of applications is ongoing and will be until all available positions are filled with qualified applicants.

Albizu University – Miami Campus is pleased to announce that its new Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology program is still accepting applications for admission in the Fall. Review of applications is ongoing, and will continue until all available positions are filled by qualified applicants. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.

Please direct all questions regarding the program and/or application process to the Director of Clinical Training, Dr. Carlos Perez Benitez at cperezbenitez@albizu.edu or 305-593-1223, ext. 3129, or Dr. Steven Proctor at sproctor@albizu.edu

Our Miami campus is conveniently located in the Doral area, near South Beach and close to several major universities including the University of Miami and Florida International University, as well as major shopping centers, highways, and the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale International Airports. Albizu-Miami offers several undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including most notably, its APA-accredited Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program since 1991.

The Ph.D. program consists of 109 credits. It follows the scientist-practitioner model of training, which aims to provide psychologists with a foundation in research and in evidence-based scientific practice. Within this framework, students are trained in conducting empirical research, applying scientific methodology to clinical practice and decision-making, and evaluating and treating clients using evidence-based methods, tools, and techniques.

From the first year of training, students are expected to participate in one or more faculty-led research groups, working with faculty members in their respective areas of expertise (e.g., addictions/substance use disorders, assessment, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, treatment outcomes, culturally-tailored treatments). Program activities take place in small, personalized groups, providing students with hands-on clinical and research experience and direct interaction with peers and faculty. Students have the opportunity to provide clinical services to the culturally diverse population of South Florida at over 35 different external practicum training sites, including major and community hospitals, community mental health centers, community agencies, correctional facilities, and private practice offices, among others.
